Early Childhood Family Education
The South St. Paul Early Learning mission is to strengthen families through education and support for all parents; to provide the best possible environment for the healthy growth and development of their children through research-based instructional/learning strategies. Parents are their children's first and most important teacher and ECFE staff are here to support you. All families are welcome and invited to attend! Classes are designed for parents and children, birth to kindergarten enrollment.
ECFE is...
- For all families in the South St. Paul School District with children from birth up to kindergarten, other district residents welcome, but SSPPS families will receive registration priority
- A fun, informal place to meet, learn and play with other children and parents
- Creative play and learning activities for all families

ECFE Home Visits
Our program also supports parents during pregnancy, early parenthood, and adoption. Experienced professionals in the area of child development are available for home visits. Get information and tips on your daily needs, as well as those of your baby. This is a free service for all families in South St. Paul Public School, Special District 6.
What can I expect from home visits?

- Information about community resources, feeding/sleeping routines, health, development and safety information
- Check baby's weight

School Census
South St. Paul Public Schools seeks your cooperation in the collection of certain information concerning the people and children in your household. Correct census information is very important for district planning purposes, such as projecting enrollment, staffing, facilities and transportation, and allows the school district to inform you of programs such as:
- Early Childhood Family Education (parent and child classes)
- Early Childhood Screening (required by law before kindergarten attendance)
- School Readiness Programs
- Preschool Registration
- Kindergarten Registration

Family Learning in Partnership with Adult Education (ABE)
Family Learning is an educational program for parents and their children 2 1/2 to 5 years old.
Family Learning includes:
- Adult Education: build your skills in reading, math and writing; improve your English speaking and writing skills.
- Parent Education: hands-on learning through fun activities together; gain ways to support your child's learning; focus on parenting strategies with other parents.
- Children 2 1/2 to 5 years old: explore and participate in readiness activities, stories, songs, snack time and large muscle games and activities.
- Sibling care available on a limited basis for children birth up to 2 1/2 years old.
